简介
Introduction. Encyclopedia Americana vol. 26 defines Technology simply as" ways of making or doing things" that is the way man does or make his things. In a wider dimension, it refers to technology as" all processes of dealing with material... Always has to be learned whether in form of manual dexterity or as an applied science". Andah (1988) gave a practical explanation of technology from cultural perspective. He refers to it as
... all that it takes (in terms of mental and material energy) for a man to set in motion the natural forces of his body-that is his arms, legs, head, and entire body, in order to make natural material available in forms useful to his own life...
In this case, man is able to influence and possibly control nature. In his desperate bid to survive and live better through technology. In another perspective he sees technology as" material expression of people's life values and attitudes". This means man's ability to apply scientific knowledge to particular uses so as to better his life. Man is naturally scientific and inquisitive, man wants to amend his failures of yesterday and improve on his successes of today. He is always in need of more comfort.
