Methods: Retrospective study of the medical nutrition therapy, during ECMO treatment, of patients admitted to ICU between November 2010 and August 2016. We collected the type of medical nutrition therapy and daily energy and protein administration. Energy requirements were estimated with the formula 25 kcal/kg/day (first week) and 30 kcal/kg/day (afterwards). Protein requirements were estimated with the formula 1.5 g/kg/day. IBM-SPSS Statistics21® was used to carry out the analysis.

Results: Fifteen patients were included in the study (10 men), with a BMI of 23.9 kg/m 2. The median duration of the ECMO was 12 days (8–20). During ECMO treatment 6 patients received EN (4 of them with supplemental PN) and 9 patients were on TPN.
