Solid wastes are now regarded as a viable renewable energy source that can be used to produce fuels and electricity. Co-gasification has been recognized as one of the best possible thermal technologies, establishing its strong context towards transforming waste to valuables. In comparison to typical gasification, the benefit of co-gasification lies in its capability to achieve the desired composition of product gas by altering the feedstock and mixing ratio. The effects of co-gasifying solid waste and their mixtures for energy and material recovery from wastes are elaborated and clearly stated in this review. It attempts towards understanding impact of solid waste type and their mixture on co-gasification performance as well as syngas quality.
