Proposes a new approach to health education (including AIDS education) that offers children and adults a tool to reason about infectious diseases sensibly and coherently. It capitalizes on and respects the learners' intellectual and natural curiosity about the why's and how's of the biological world. This chapter discusses the authors' experimental health education curricula, and gives a quick review of what is known about the nature of children's folkbiology in terms of infectious disease causality, transmission, and prevention.
