简介
In" Metaphysics and the Morality of Abortion," Earl Conee argues that" there is no metaphysical support for a moral conclusion about abortion"(Conee 1999, p. 644). 1 Conee defends this thesis by arguing that attempts by Parfit, Quinn, Chisholm and myself to use metaphysics to support positions on abortion are failures. Relying on an inference to the best explanation, Conee argues that"[t] his pattern offailure is best explained by the general epistemic irrelevance of metaphysics to the morality of abortion"(620).
