Relationships are central to mental health as social connections help people to manage workplace stress and health concerns. As COVID-19 alters the nature and frequency of pre-pandemic social connections, people have turned to religion and nontraditional sources of social support such as pets and social media (Dominick et al., 2021; Okafor et al., 2021). Since the virus’s global outbreak in early 2020, COVID-19 has upended how people organize personal and professional endeavors. This pandemic has frustrated individuals as they must constantly adapt to the changing crisis and responding restrictions, adding stress to people’s lives as they cope with loss and trauma.
