The use of medicinal plants in the treatment of diabetes mellitus is highly popular, especially in the Middle East. Jordan is characterized by great diversity in wild plants, with an estimated 2000 plant species. Many of these plants are widely used to treat different ailments including diabetes. In this chapter, we focus on nine Jordanian plants traditionally used to treat diabetes. Active phytochemicals, therapeutic targets, and mechanisms of action are also discussed.
