The primary aim of this study was to determine if any difference in mitochondrial distribution can be observed between fresh and cryopreserved (slow-frozen/thawed and vitrified/warmed) oocytes when oocytes are stained with Mitotracker Red CMXRos and observed under a conventional fluorescent microscope. Additionally, the influence of cryopreservation procedure on the viable rates of oocytes at different maturation stages was evaluated.

The germinal vesicle (GV) and MII oocytes were cryopreserved with slow-freezing and vitrification. After thawing/warming, oocytes were stained using Mitotracker Red CMXRos and observed under a conventional fluorescent microscope.
