Methods
From the Korean National Health Insurance Service database, 6 we identified 13 968 236 routine health examinees aged 20 to 89 years in 2003 to 2006, after exclusion of participants with incomplete covariates (n= 667 224), prior CVD (n= 517 459), or< 1-year follow-up (n= 64 499). We selected 8 109 484 participants with systolic blood pressure (SBP)< 130 mm Hg and not taking antihypertensive medication. The Institutional Review Board of Yonsei University Health System, Seoul, Korea, approved this study with a waiver of informed consent (No. Y-2019-0081).
