The effects of catecholamines on the uptake of tritiated estradiof (3H-Ez) and the changes in the uptake of radioactive epinephrine (‘HE) and norepinephrine (3H-NE) induced by unlabeled (E,) in the human endometrium and myometrium were studied in vitro. Human uterine slices were incubated in Krebs-Ringer Phosphate buffer pH 7.00 at 37 C with ascorbic acid (20 ha/ml) and EDTA (10 &ml). Both cdtecholamines modified the uptake of (3H-E2) only in the mvometrium.(E) increased the uptake of (3H-E,) having its m&mum effect at 2.2 x IO-sM (p< 0.05). In contrast.(NE) diminished the mvometrial untake of f3H-E,) at the same molar concentration as (E): p< 0.05.(3HLE) and (-‘H-NE) were taken up and concentrated in relation to the medium by both the myometrium and the endometrium.(E,), added in increasing amounts up to 3.1 x IO-‘M, inhibited the uptake of-(3H-NE) by myometrium and endometrium being …
