Vocational rehabilitation offers an exciting and rewarding field of practice to occupational therapists working in the field of psychiatry and mental health as one of the final stages in the rehabilitation process. Cognitive, emotional and motivational difficulties are at the core of most mental illnesses and may affect worker's ability to perform their essential work tasks efficiently and accurately. Various models and theoretical frameworks can be used during the vocational rehabilitation process as applied to clients with mental illness.
