Purpose/Objective (s): There is no standard simulation training geared towards interstitial brachytherapy (IS BT) for gynecologic malignancies. Many residents perform few IS cases during residency. However, IS BT is an integral part of care for locally advanced gynecologic malignancies. We manufactured a low-cost phantom for IS BT simulation training of gynecologic malignancies and used in resident training and education sessions.

Materials/Methods: Cost of each phantom was approximately $70. Phantoms were made using a 6× 6× 6in 3 acrylic box, a rigid PETG tube (1” mimic vagina and 0.5” diameter to mimic rectum), modeling clay, agar (Sigma Aldrich, St. Louis, MO, glass microspheres (Fibre Glast Developments Corp, Brookville, OH; to produce hyperechoic uterus), and water-filled condom to mimic bladder.
