Lignin is one type of industrial by-product, outputs of which are rapidly increasing worldwide. This paper presents a series investigation of assessment of the strength development of lignin-stabilized soils via a simple nondestructive technique. Experimental work was carried out on the stabilized silty soils with various additive contents and durations. The shear-wave velocity (Vs) test and unconfined compression test were conducted to measure the properties of specimen at various time intervals. After the test, correlation between the small-strain shear modulus (G0) (shear-wave velocity (Vs) test) and the unconfined compressive strength (UCS) was analysed. The results reveal that G0 as well as UCS of lignin-stabilized soils increases logarithmically with curing period.
