Motor neurone disease (MND) is a degenerative disease, characterised by deterioration of the nerves in the brain and spinal cord; there is currently no known cure. Due to the multisystem effects of the disease, patients are faced with many complex healthcare decisions, one of which is whether to accept gastrostomy feeding. The evidence base for the benefits of enteral feeding in MND is lacking [1], meaning this decision is not straightforward for patients. In the UK, there are currently no published decision aids to support patients making this decision.
