Existing melanoma research commonly aggregates Asian American (AA) and Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander (NHOPI) individuals into a single racial category, limiting our understanding of melanoma prognosis and survival among AA and NHOPI populations. Here, we examined differences in melanoma presentation and melanoma-specific survival (MSS) among AA and NHOPI populations to better characterize their melanoma-related health disparities. We identified 156,682 AA, NHOPI, and non-Hispanic White (NHW) patients with first histologically confirmed primary malignant cutaneous melanoma diagnosed from 2000 through 2019 within SEER (17-registries).
