Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has traditionally been considered a non-surgical option for patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) and not otherwise suitable for a surgical aortic valve replacement. 1 However, with advances in device technology and continued improvement in operator procedural experience, the indications and patient populations considered for TAVR have rapidly expanded. In addition to consideration of low and intermediate surgical risk severe AS patients, 2, 3 TAVR has also been successfully implemented in patients previously deemed unsuitable for TAVR due to challenging anatomies or physiologies. Currently, certain patients with low-flow low gradient (LF-LG) AS, bicuspid aortic valves (BAV), prior surgically replaced valves, and aortic regurgitation (AR) and other concomitant valvular diseases have successfully undergone TAVR.
