Since 1981 over 2,100 general university students and community adult residents have enrolled in the Health Education Course," How to Avoid Dying From Cancer... Now and Later" offered once annually at The Ohio State University's main campus in Columbus, Ohio. The context, history, course description, measures and foundations for success have all been previously discussed. 1 As the directors of that course, we have sought a means of initiating the course at other Ohio universities and colleges. To achieve this objective, we invited three types of persons to an eight hour workshop: 1) medical school oncology faculty from each of Ohio's six other medical schools, 2) university-based health educators associated with those six medical schools; and 3) American Cancer Society staff from the county where the university/medical school was located.
