简介
Employment is an important factor in recovery from severe mental illness. The Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model has been proved to be the most efficient method to help people with severe mental illness find competitive work. In Switzerland, IPS has been mainly studied in collaboration with disability insurance providers (AI/IV), focusing on a very specific part of the psychiatric population only. RESSORT (RESeau de Soutien et d’Orientation vers le Travail) is a vocational program for people with severe mental illness; it was implemented in Western Switzerland in 2009. Since 2012, it has followed the IPS model. The main purpose of this study was to describe the IPS population attending RESSORT between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2014, and to assess the effectiveness of the program in terms of the rate of competitive employment at the end of the program. At the end of the program, 41.8% of them had obtained competitive work compared with 20.9% at baseline (p= 0.037). Neither the program duration, nor other sociodemographic, professional or clinical characteristics predicted access to competitive work.
