METHODS

Institutional review board approval was obtained for chart review. We searched the vascular surgery database for procedures involving a femoral artery anastomosis with a groin incision and cross-referenced these data with the plastic surgery database searching for muscle flaps between 1998 and 2002. A total of 644 bypass grafts involving a groin incision were performed during this time period, including 465 vein grafts and 179 prosthetic grafts. Nine patients were identified with early vascular graft infections treated with sartorius or rectus femoris flaps. We reviewed the clinical course, operative procedures, and available postoperative follow-up for these patients.
