The term ‘fundamental movement skills’ or ‘FMS’ is relatively well known and used within the context of children's movement development. The development of FMS (i.e., locomotor, object projection/reception, and balance/stability skills) is a key objective of school Physical Education curricula worldwide (Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority, 2012; Department for Education, 2013; Society of Health and Physical Educators, 2013) and features as a foundation of long-term athlete development models in various sports, including soccer.
