METHODS

After Institutional Review Board approval, 120 charts were reviewed retrospectively from patients who had undergone overnight polysomnography and spirometry between February 2010 through July 2011, and had evident “saw-toothing or notching” on the inspiratory limb of their flow-volume loop. The notching is noted as a negative deflection on the inspiratory flow-volume loop that resembles the letter “c”. The saw-toothing, as described by Sanders, et al, is an oscillatory appearance noted on the loop. The patient population included men and women, ranging in age from 19 to 78 years old
