简介
This chapter classifies communication technologies employed in the Internet-of-Things (IoT) as infrastructure, data, transport, discovery, messaging, and management protocol families as well as semantics and frameworks. Moreover, IoT networks are divided into IP and Constrained Networks with the latter not directly supporting the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP) stack on IoT devices. Furthermore, another distinction is considered dividing networks into Personal (PAN), Local (LAN), and Wide (WAN) Area Networks. Finally, here selected communication technologies are characterized according to the aforementioned classifiers and important aspects of select technologies are discussed in the remainder of this chapter.
