简介
Animal models are of great value in evaluating pathogenic mechanisms and experimental treatments that cannot be tested directly on humans. In recent years several in vivo experimental models of human vascular diseases have been developed which contributed to our understanding the etiopathogenesis of various vascular diseases. The spectrum of animal models entails spontaneous occurring vasculitis, viral or bacterial infections-mediated vascular disease, drug and chemicalinduced vasculitis, and various immune manipulations leading to vascular inflammation and injury. 1-3 This chapter will focus on the induction of experimental vascular diseases mediated by pathogenic autoantibodies, among them anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies, anti-glomerular basement membrane, anti-endothelial cells, and anti-phospholipid antibodies.
