Onchocerciasis is a parasitic infection caused by the filarial nematode Onchocerca volvulus. It is a major endemic disease throughout a wide belt of Sub-Saharan Africa. Sudan is the northernmost country in the world endemic for onchocerciasis (Baker and Abdelnur, 1985; Davies and Crosskey, 1991; Higazi et al., 2000, 2001).
