In Chile, there are 17,467 ha planted with Citrus spp., and the most prevalent species are C. limon, C. sinensis, and C. reticulata, among others (www. odepa. cl, 2017). In June 2016, C. limon trees located in the Pica oasis, Tarapacá Region, were observed showing trunk canker, branch dieback, vascular streaks, and gummy orange-brown exudation. Samples from affected trees (n= 3) of one orchard were taken and were sent to the Plant Pathology Lab for analysis. Pieces were taken from the margins of necrotic lesions of diseased branches, surface disinfected (75% ethanol, 30 s), dried, placed on acidified potato dextrose agar (0.5 ml of lactic acid at 96% per liter) plates, and incubated in the dark for 4 to 7 days at 25 C.
