Purpose
Thrombocytopenia is a frequent complication after lung transplantation and TMA is frequently the cause of this thrombocytopenia. Nevertheless, the diagnosis of TMA is difficult to prove in these patients. It has been shown recently that severe acquired deficiency of ADAMTS 13 activity may be associated with TMA after lung transplantation.[H. Mal, Transplantation 2006; 81: 1628-1632]. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic value of ADAMTS 13 activity in cases of suspected TMA after lung transplantation.
