To the Editor: W hile the role played by occupational activities on overall health was pointed out in the landmark and elegant studies conducted by Jerry Morris et al in the early 50s, 1 the scientific literature only recently showed a growing interest in occupational physical activities and sedentary time. In their study, recently published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (JOEM), Gallagher & Carr propose a highly interesting exploration of the ‘‘potentially differential relations between occupational physical activity and sedentary behavior on several health outcomes among a sample of employees working in a range of common US occupations.’’According to their results, Occupational Physical Activity (OPA) and Sedentary Behaviors (OSB) might not be associated with health outcomes in 22 to 55 years old full-time workers, contrarily to their physical activity level and sedentary behaviors during …
