简介
The inoculating technique consists of clipping off the tips of rice leaves with scissors whose blades have been dipped in bacterial suspension. Five 60- to 80-day-old plants can be sucessively inoculated after dipping into a suspension containing 109 cells/ml. Although the technique primarily measures tissue susceptibility, a good correlation exists between this and natural infection. Compared with earlier methods, this one is more efficient, allows diseased leaf extract ( as an alternative to pure cultures) to be more easily used as inoculum and gives more consistent results.
