The use of lignocellulosic biomass to produce value-added products, such as fuel ethanol, is a current priority for global biobased economy. The quest to explore novel microbes, such as yeasts, to attain sustainable products for an ever-growing population has become highly in demand. This study might be the first to explore the rumen yeast Pichia kudriavzevii SVMS2019 for cellulase production to efficiently utilize wheat straw as biomass, which can further be converted to bioethanol. The optimization process was carried out on pre-treated wheat straw by employing one factor at a time (OFAT) and response surface methodology (RSM). Wheat straw pre-treated using NaOH alkali pretreatment was characterized with FTIR, XRD, and SEM studies.
