The purpose of this study was to explore health outcomes for young people aged 13–24 years (n= 815 889) with and without intellectual disability, using data from the 2011 Scottish census. Logistic regressions were applied to determine the OR of intellectual disability, gender and age group (13–18 or 19–24 years), independently predicting the following health outcomes: general health, mental health, physical disabilities, hearing impairment, visual impairment, long-term illness and day-to-day activity limitation. Further statistical analyses were applied to the population with intellectual disability (n= 5556) to explore if age range (13–18 or 19–24 years) was associated with the examined health outcomes after adjusting for gender.
