Background
Pediatric oncohematologic patients are a highrisk population for clinical deterioration that might require pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission. Several studies have described outcomes and mortality predictors for patients post hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT), but fewer data exist regarding the category of nonHSCT patients.
Procedure
All oncohematologic nonHSCT patients ≤18 years requiring PICU admission from 1998 to 2015 in our tertiarycare academic hospital were retrospectively evaluated by means of the pediatric hematologyoncology unit database and the Italian PICUs data network database. We assessed the relation between demographic and clinical characteristics and 90day mortality after PICU admission.
Results
