简介
Astheleadingcauseofcancerdeathworldwide, lungcancerisaserious public health issue. The use of low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening to detect the malignancy at earlier stages has been proposed as a promising avenue to reduce its mortality. However, uncertainties remain regarding the application and benefits of large population-based screening programs. The reproducibility of the initial NLST (National Lung Screening Trial) results, the potential harm of subsequent imaging and diagnostic procedures, and the benefits of integrating smoking cessation interventions have been questioned in the recent literature regarding lung cancer screening. Thus, these three subjects will be reviewed (1–3).■ de Koning HJ, et al. Reduced Lung-Cancer Mortality with Volume CT Screening in a Randomized Trial. N Engl J Med (1)
