This article explores how best to cultivate sustainable behavior change, whether that means sticking to an exercise regimen or a nutrition plan for a lifetime of health. Benefits of both internal and external motivation are explained. By re-branding health as well-being, happiness, or quality of life, it is easier to motivate older adults to do the right thing when it comes to self-care behaviors.
