Purpose: The purpose of our study was to assess visual photosensitivity with and without light filtering lenses using the Ocular Photosensitivity Analyzer (OPA) in subjects who had suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

Methods: 28 healthy subjects (15 females and 13 males, age= 33.3±13.6) and 23 TBI subjects (6 females and 17 males, age= 41.3±13.2) were assessed for their visual photosensitivity thresholds (VPT) with and without light filtering lenses using the OPA (Aguilar et al. BOE 2018, 9 (11): 5583-5596). Each subject completed twice a 5-trial series one month apart (V1 and V2). The initial trial was completed without any glasses (No Lens (NL)) and the next four trials were completed while wearing each of the plano lens (PL, no filter), blue-light blocking lens (BL), FL-41 (FL), and gray lens (GL) glasses.

Results: The mean VPTs for TBI subjects were NL 1.7±1.0 log lux at V1 and 1.5±0.9 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.88); PL 1.6±1.0 log lux at V1 and 1.6±1.1 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.94); BL 1.7±1.0 log lux at V1 and 1.6±1.0 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.95); FL 1.8±1.1 log lux at V1 and 1.8±1.1 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.92); and GL 1.9±1.1 log lux at V1 and 1.7±1.1 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.90). The mean VPTs for healthy subjects were NL 2.5±0.8 log lux at V1 and 2.3±0.8 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.92); PL 2.4±0.9 log lux at V1 and 2.3±0.8 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.91); BL 2.4±0.9 log lux at V1 and 2.4±0.8 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.94); FL 2.8±0.9 log lux at V1 and 2.8±0.8 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.92); and GL 2.8±0.9 log lux at V1 and 2.7±0.8 log lux at V2 (ICC= 0.92).
