Method As a research method, grounded theory analysis (23-25) is designed primarily to generate theory from experiential data (26). A grounded theory research design was employed in this study to gain an understanding of culturally competent care from the perspective of a select group of doctorally prepared Latina nursing faculty (4). In-person, tape-recorded interviews with 10 Latina nursing faculty were conducted and transcribed by the first author. To add richness and depth to the interviews, limited fieldwork was also conducted. Human subject approval for the study was gained prior to data collection.
