简介
We presented results from several packages of work that informed the update of joint ECDC/EMCDDA guidance on “Prevention and control of infectious diseases among people who inject drugs”, These included: (1) an update of the review of reviews on the effectiveness of drug treatment, needle and syringe provision (NSP) and drug consumption rooms (DCRs); (2) a literature review of modelling studies on the population-level impact of opioid substitution therapy (OST) and NSP on HCV transmission; and (3) a systematic review of interventions that can improve linkage to care and adherence to treatment for HBV, HCV, HIV and tuberculosis. Objectives: We aimed to introduce to the conference audience key content of the updated ECDC/EMCDDA guidance on prevention and control of infectious diseases among people who inject drugs (2022), with a focus on HCV and HIV. We aimed to engage a panel of experts in discussing implications for public health practice of updated guidance recommendations.
