Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer death for women worldwide. This cancer occurs when the breast cells grow abnormally and spread uncontrolled. Although there are several treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery in a clinical setting to cure cancer, these treatments cannot provide a 100 % success rate in eliminating cancer, mainly due to the late diagnosis of the disease. Thus, early detection is the key to provide better breast cancer treatment and a higher chance for survival. Herein, simple and sensitive biosensor by combining the emerging multifunctional materials of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with a label-free surface plasmon resonance (SPR) instrument was developed.
