Older adults and individuals with sensory or cognitive impairments face many barriers to inclusion and accessing various opportunities and services that the society has to offer. To overcome the disabling effects of these barriers, some of these people may employ some form of assistive technologies (AT). With their prevalence and diverse capabilities, the Internet of Things (IoT), smart homes, smart buildings, smart cities, and other smart environments can overcome some of the challenges that the more traditional AT face. There are many stimulating works on the use of assistive IoT and smart environments.
