Background: Vinca rosea is an important medicinal plant. It was known that vinca alkaloids (vincristine, vinblastine) have produced anticancer effect on brest cancer. Aim: In this study, we compared the antiproliferative effects of young and adult leaves methanolic extracts of Vinca rosea on A431skin cancer cell line using MTT assay. Matherial method: different concentrations of methanolic extracts of young and adult leaves (200,100, 50, 25, 12.5, 6.25, 3.2, 1.56, 0.78, 0.39, 0.19 g/ml) were tested as triplicate in MTT assay with A431 cell line.

Result: a significant difference was seen between young and adult leaves. Young leaves produced more reduction in inhibiting cell proliferation compared to adult leaves. A decrease in IC50 was produced at 6, 12, 24, 48 hours respectively. The best result was seen with the minimum IC50 at 6 h interval compared to adult leaves.
