简介
This study aims to compare the loneliness levels of male adolescents who live in an orphanage and who live with their families. Participants were a total of 86 male adolescents aged between 15-18 years, 43 of whom live in an orphanage and 43 of whom attend high school and live with their parents. Data were gathered with the “Adolescent Introduction Form”, and “UCLA Loneliness Scale” designed by Russell, Peplau and Ferguson and Turkish adapted by Demir. Data obtained in the study were analyzed by using chi square and t-test. The results showed that the male adolescents living in an orphanage experienced moderate loneliness levels (45.46±8.20), while those living with their families experienced low levels of it (36.30±7.58). It was concluded that adolescents living in an orphanage experienced higher levels of loneliness than those living with their families, and that the difference was statistically significant (t (84)= 5.377, p<. 05).
