简介
The paper contributes to the debate over the impact of remittances on development of migrants’ communities. It started with the discussion on what sort of influence globalization could have on poverty and inequality and how remittances may affect these phenomena. The paper attempts to encompass possible consequences of remittances for households in Bangladesh predominantly focusing on what role sent resources could play in poverty and inequality eradication. Along with probable positive outcomes of remittances on migrants’ well-being negative effects are also discussed. The study suggests that those migrants possessing some social or financial capital before moving are more likely to succeed in migration and improve their livelihoods while those without capital could be left behind on their way to benefits of migration.
