Despite its diversity, Arabic does not yet have a historical dictionary which helps to monitor its semantic development throughout history and to understand its knowledge and scientific heritage properly. There are only some incomplete attempts with various semantic problems. At first, an Arabic word can carry different types of meaning depending on the specific context. The relationship between Arabic words should be analysed and modeled in order to have a comprehensive dictionary. However, all dictionary versions that have been constructed till now are either unstructured or semi-structured. Also, they neither define nor present the relationship between different Arabic words. Hence, the use of a standardized and well-structured format is necessary to implement the Arabic historical dictionary.
