Background Sexualized acts between children of the same age are usually an expression of normal, age-appropriate behavior; however, there is also sexualized violence between minors that goes beyond age-appropriate interest and has received little attention in the medical literature so far. Method A selective literature search was conducted in the PubMed database and with the help of the Google Scholar search service. In addition, a retrospective analysis of in-house cases was performed. Results The included studies found prevalence rates for unwanted sexual contact ranging from 6% to 50.7%. Being a high school student and being female or having a migrant background were identified as risk factors for sexual assault.
