Background
Children with neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), obsessive compulsive disorders (OCD) and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) exhibit high rates of externalizing and internalizing behaviours. These behaviours have been linked to variation in cortico-amygdalar circuitry in typically developing children (TDC). Here, we examine whether structural and functional variation within cortico-amygdalar networks relates to internalizing and externalizing behaviours in children with different NDDs.
Methods
T1-weighted images and Child Behavioural Checklist (CBCL)-derived externalizing/internalizing scores were obtained from the Province of Ontario Neurodevelopmental Disorders (POND) network (N= 467 (M= 279; F= 102); 10.5±4.1 years), including children with ASD (n= 234), ADHD (n= 96), OCD (n= 56) and TDC (n= 76).
