Solar thermal façade concepts for building integration have a relevant contribution in the field of renewable solar energy exploitation. This study is focused on an experimental analysis of a transparent insulation façade (TIF) concept and the options for the prediction of its performance using building energy simulation (BES) modelling. A TIF prototype based on a transparent insulation material (TIM) and a selective absorber is tested and compared with a nonselective type of absorber. An experimental study was conducted involving full-scale climatic chamber and dynamic outdoor tests. The proposed TIF concept with a selective absorber and its solar effective layers provides the same thermal performance as conventional types of thermal insulation.
