简介
One of the best-established patterns in functional neuroanatomy is the representation of (egocentric) space contralaterally in each cerebral hemisphere (and ipsilaterally in each cerebellar hemisphere). This enforces a degree of symmetry, in that half of our visual field is represented in each calcarine sulcus, half our somatotopic map in each post-central gyrus, and half of each side of auditory space in each superior temporal gyrus. This symmetry makes the lateralisation of some cerebral functions all the more striking. Doricchi et al.[1] capture this in their detailed analysis of functional asymmetry in the temporoparietal junction (TPJ).
