This study aimed at assessing the impact of training in the teaching-learning cycle during the training on improving the English language skills of the trainees. The training group was divided into two: the control group with a total of 43 people using strategies other than test taking and the experimental group with a total of 43 participants using the test-taking instructional strategy. The training participants come from the public in the city of Jogjakarta ranging from lecturers, teachers, students, and high school students. The training participants were also homogenized with their language proficiency by conducting the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC). Quantitative data were analyzed by using an independent t-test, whereas qualitative data from the interview were analyzed descriptively to enrich the study results. This study shows that integrating the test-taking learning strategy in the training process affects the learning outcomes of the trainees.
