In pot experiments, maize was supplied with 0-6 µg/ml of selenite or selenate combined with 2 or 5 µg Cd/ml. Root and shoot concentrations of Cd were generally decreased by selenite and selenate at both Cd concentrations. Reductions were generally proportionally greater in roots than shoots, but were not significantly different between the 2 sources of Se.
