Anwar Alam has assembled papers delivered over a three-day conference in New Delhi, addressing the contemporary relations between India and Iran. The authors include an ambassador, several university professors, and think-tank researchers who focus on the political, nuclear, bilateral, regional, economic, energy, and cultural dimensions of this relationship. There is a consensus in the contributions that India has interests and needs that can only be met through a deeper engagement with Iran, and it would be a mistake to let the United States, the primary antagonist in this work, prevent this collaboration from taking place. The essays address some of the fundamental dimensions in the India-Iran relationship, but these are not comprehensive, and some vital subjects are neglected or ignored.
