Introduction
Pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infection is increasingly common chronic infection that predominately affects women and older adults; however very little is understood about the long-term impact of NTM disease on quality of life (QOL).
Methods
Patients with NTM isolated in 2005-2006 were originally identified as part of statewide surveillance project; living patients were contacted starting on July 1, 2013 to participate in the current study. Telephone interviews were administered that included questions about demographics, comorbidities, smoking history, subsequent NTM treatment, and QOL measures including the St. George’s Respiratory Questionnaire-3 month recall (SGRQ).
